801 Restaurant Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 10, 2026. The company aims to restructure its debt of roughly $18.7 million. This move comes after financial troubles linked to the closures of two locations: 801 Fish in downtown Denver and 801 On Nicollet in Minneapolis.
All eight locations of 801 Chophouse will remain open during the bankruptcy process. These include restaurants in Des Moines, Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Denver, Minneapolis, Leawood, Missouri, and Tysons Corner, Virginia. The individual companies that own each location are not in bankruptcy.
The Chapter 11 case was filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Kansas. As of April 16, 2026, none of the restaurants have closed their doors.
“The companies that own and operate the restaurants are not in bankruptcy and there are no plans or need for them to file bankruptcy,” said a representative from 801 Restaurant Group.
The purpose of the Chapter 11 is to restructure these and other obligations for which the group has liability. Yet, details remain unconfirmed regarding the long-term impact of this bankruptcy on the individual locations.
