Samsung Messages had previously supported Rich Communication Services (RCS), but it was reliant on carrier-specific standards, which limited its functionality compared to Google Messages. The latter offers improved capabilities, including higher-resolution images and advanced AI features.

Apple is set to change 1.5 billion iPhones to improve messaging security, a move prompted by the FBI’s recent warning to U.S. citizens to ‘stop texting’ due to security vulnerabilities.
