The International Atomic Energy Agency has not been able to inspect Iran’s nuclear sites since the outbreak of war in June 2025. This situation raises concerns about the status of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. Iran has accumulated 11 tons of enriched uranium since it began enriching uranium on an industrial scale in 2006.

Much of this highly enriched uranium is likely still at the Isfahan nuclear complex. The IAEA believes that approximately 200 kilograms of enriched uranium is stored in tunnels at this site. Additionally, Iran possesses 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60 percent purity, which has no peaceful application.

On June 9, 2025, a truck carrying 18 blue containers, believed to contain highly enriched uranium, entered the Isfahan Nuclear Technology Center. Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, stated, “We haven’t been able to inspect or to reject that the material is there and that the seals — the IAEA seals — remain there.” He added that the majority of Iran’s enriched uranium is likely at the Isfahan nuclear complex.

IAEA inspections ended when the US-Israeli war began. This conflict has left observers uncertain about the exact location of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. It is unclear how long it would take Iran to turn its enriched uranium into a nuclear weapon.

Grossi emphasized that what’s important is that this material either leaves Iran or is blended to reduce its enrichment levels. The potential for nuclear proliferation remains a significant concern among international observers.

“I fit tok say tonight say we dey on track to complete all America military objectives shortly, veri shortly,” stated US President Donald Trump during his first formal address regarding the ongoing Iran war, which has now lasted for 32 days.

Trump’s remarks come as the US military claims to have systematically dismantled Iran’s ability to threaten America, including the destruction of Iran’s navy, air force, and missile production capabilities. He emphasized that the US could end the war without opening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping route for global oil.

In a bold declaration, Trump announced plans to “hit dem extremely hard for di next two to three weeks,” suggesting a significant escalation in military operations. He referred to the war as a “true investment” for future generations of Americans, framing the conflict as a necessary measure against Iran’s long-term threats.

In response to Trump’s threats, Iran’s military vowed to carry out “more crushing, broader, and more destructive” attacks. The tensions have escalated, with Iran threatening to attack ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical area for global oil transport.

Trump’s address also included criticism of the nuclear deal negotiated by former President Obama, which he labeled a mistake and expressed pride in terminating. He noted that the US has faced 47 years of terrorist attacks attributed to Iran or its proxies, underscoring the long-standing conflict.

The economic ramifications of the war are already being felt, with the International Energy Agency, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank announcing plans to monitor potential economic shocks. Global oil prices rose sharply following Trump’s address, contributing to a downturn in stock markets.

As the conflict continues, details remain unconfirmed regarding the exact timeline for the end of the war and the status of US-Iran diplomacy, with conflicting reports about ceasefire requests. The potential economic impact of a prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz is also not fully understood.

Amidst these developments, the loss of 13 American soldiers has heightened the stakes, as both sides prepare for what could be a pivotal moment in the Iran war.
