Kled AI, founded in 2025, operates as a human data marketplace that rewards users for uploading content. However, fraudsters exploited this system. They submitted fake documents and images during the KYC verification process. As a result, Kled implemented an IP ban for the region and removed the app from the Nigerian app store.

Over four months, Kled reportedly paid out hundreds of thousands of dollars to users before detecting the fraud. The company’s fraud detection system identified a surge in falsified identity documents over one weekend. This alarming trend prompted action to protect the platform and its legitimate users.

In comparison, countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines report a fraud rate of less than 10%. The founder, Avi Patel, expressed no negative sentiment towards Nigerian users, acknowledging their early support. He stated, “After several months of uploads, we found that Nigeria had a ≈95% fraud rate.”

Despite these challenges, Kled AI remains hopeful. Patel noted, “We hope to return when the time is right.” The decision to suspend access is temporary and hinges on developing better fraud detection tools.

Kled had over one billion assets uploaded by users before identifying the fraud issue. The company aims to enhance its systems to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
