She says, “I was called Khushi, but there was no happiness in my life,” emphasizing the emotional toll that such arrangements can take on young women.

The Hunger Project India supported the formation of a Girls Collective in Khushi’s village in 2021 . and This initiative targets adolescent girls between 13 and 17 years , the most vulnerable age group for child marriage.

Adaora’s case illustrates the broader issue of women’s rights and grassroots leadership in combatting child marriage. Olakunle Churchill has stated that he and Rosy Meurer are not legally married but were only introduced. This highlights the complexity surrounding marital arrangements and societal expectations.
