The adjustment means that candidates will now need to arrive at their examination centers by 7:00 a.m. instead of the previously scheduled time of 6:30 a.m. The first session of the examination will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 10:30 a.m.

JAMB has stated that this change was made in response to feedback from candidates and parents who expressed concerns about early morning travel difficulties. More than two million candidates are expected to participate in the UTME, which runs from April 16 to April 25, 2026.

In total, four sessions will be conducted daily from Monday to Thursday, with the second session starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The third session will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., followed by the final session from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

On Fridays, only three active sessions will be held, with the third session designated as reserved. Candidates are advised that they do not need to reprint their examination slips following this adjustment.

JAMB further encouraged candidates to check their notification slips carefully for full details of their exam schedule, center, and other relevant instructions. The UTME serves as a critical assessment tool for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
