Spotify has launched a new Verified by Spotify badge for artist profiles. This initiative aims to enhance trust in artist authenticity amidst a rapidly evolving music landscape.

Spotify is evolving its verification process to enhance trust in artist authenticity. The badge will feature the text ‘Verified by Spotify’ alongside a light green checkmark icon.

In Q1 2026, Spotify reported reaching 761 million active users and 293 million paying subscribers. The company’s revenue for the quarter was 4.5 billion euros (approximately $5.3 billion), marking an eight percent increase from the previous year. Operating income rose by 40 percent, reaching 715 million euros.

The launch of the verification badge comes as Spotify aims to reach 778 million monthly active users and 299 million paying subscribers by the end of April 2026. Alex Norstrom stated, “We surpassed 760 million MAU, delivered on the subscriber growth we aimed to achieve, and saw healthy engagement from existing users, reactivations and new users alike.”

The introduction of this feature addresses concerns regarding artist authenticity in music streaming. At launch, Spotify ensured that more than 99% of artists actively searched for by listeners will be verified.

The first leg of the match between FC Bayern and FC Barcelona ended in a 1-1 draw. Ewa Pajor scored for FC Barcelona, while Franziska Kett equalized for FC Bayern. The return leg will take place at Spotify Camp Nou.

This strategic move highlights Spotify’s commitment to maintaining user trust while navigating the competitive landscape of digital music services.
