“The results of candidates who sat the examination on Friday, 17 April and Saturday, 18 April 2026 have now been released,” said Fabian Benjamin, a spokesperson for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This announcement came on April 20, 2026, as the board made available a total of 1,264,940 results from the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The total number of results released so far stands at 1,897,692. JAMB had previously released 632,752 results for candidates who took the exam on April 16. The ongoing release marks a key stage in the examination process as candidates nationwide continue to await their results for admission into higher institutions.
Candidates can check their results by sending ‘UTMERESULT’ to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number they registered with. This process aims to provide an efficient way for students to access their scores promptly.
The UTME began on April 16, and it has seen a significant increase in participation this year. A total of 2,243,816 candidates registered for the examination in 2026. This figure represents a 10.5% increase from the previous year.
Lagos recorded the highest number of registered candidates at 381,814. This trend reflects the growing interest in tertiary education among Nigerian students.
Yet, details remain unconfirmed regarding any issues that may have arisen during the examination period or with result processing. JAMB continues to release results in batches to manage the high volume effectively.
The anticipation surrounding these results underscores their importance for students seeking admission into universities and other higher learning institutions. As more batches are released, candidates are eager to receive confirmation of their scores.
As of now, JAMB has not announced when all remaining results will be made available. The board is expected to provide updates as they continue processing the remaining examinations.
