jamb utme 2026 results release — NG news

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released results for 632,788 candidates who participated in the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 16, 2026. This large-scale examination is among the largest coordinated assessments in Nigeria.

Candidates can access their results by sending ‘UTMERESULT’ via SMS to either 55019 or 66019. However, only result viewing is available at this stage; printing of result slips has not yet been enabled.

JAMB warned against attempts to manipulate or falsify results. Two candidates and one parent are currently in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means. This issue highlights ongoing concerns about exam integrity.

The 2026 UTME commenced on April 16 and will end on April 25. The examination is conducted in multiple sessions daily to ease congestion and enhance verification processes.

Over 2.2 million candidates are expected to sit for the examination across accredited Computer-Based Test centres. JAMB emphasised that the UTME exercise is still ongoing, adding that additional batches of results will be released progressively as marking and processing continue.

This sequence of events matters significantly for candidates awaiting their results. Timely access to results influences their next steps in education and career planning.

Fabian Benjamin, a JAMB spokesperson, stated, “This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight.” This announcement set expectations for many anxious candidates.

As more candidates complete the examination, they await their results with anticipation. The current focus remains on maintaining examination integrity while ensuring timely processing of results.
