The Institute of Part-Time Studies at FUOYE has commenced online examinations for the first time, a move that aims to align the university with global best practices and reduce operational costs. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize academic processes in response to the evolving educational landscape.
Professor Adelani Tijani, reflecting on the new system, remarked, “We are just pioneering this system, and to the glory of God, it is progressing smoothly.” This sentiment underscores the university’s optimism regarding the transition to digital assessments.
In an effort to maintain academic integrity, strict monitoring mechanisms have been implemented to prevent examination malpractice. Dr. Oyeleke Abiodun noted, “The level of examination malpractice has reduced significantly compared to what is obtainable in paper-based exams,” indicating a positive trend in the effectiveness of the online format.
The online examination system is designed to run for one month, with assessments available daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This flexibility is expected to accommodate the diverse schedules of students enrolled in part-time studies.
Additionally, FUOYE has opened postgraduate admission for the 2026/2027 session, with an application fee set at 20,000 Naira. Admission requirements include a minimum score of 60 for Ph.D. candidates and 55 for M.Phil/Ph.D. applicants, reflecting the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards.
